There is a Sarah Vernon baptised to parents Lewis Vernon and Jane Vernon in Waterford in 04-Feb-1781. Also a William Vernon baptised to a William Vernon Sr. in 20-May-1753. So perhaps it is named after this Vernon family in Waterford but I can't appear to find anything on it. The only mention of it is on my 8th great-grandfather's will in 1759 and on this Richards and Scalé map from 1764. I would be happy to share a copy with you if you would like it. The American Mount Vernon was named after Admiral Edward Vernon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Vernon) and I wonder if this one had the same origin?Nick Kingsleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03588322361791532910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704095971276575721.post-62534123970144678672023-03-02T15:49:18.411+00:002023-03-02T15:49:18.411+00:00I have an old map from 1764 of Waterford. My 8th GGF (William Rogers) lived next to it in a place called Mount Vernon, but I can't seem to find who it was named after.
