Sons of John Ashworth b. 1826 / d. 1888. The names: Walter, Thomas, Henry and Percy.

http://www.boltonsmayors.org.uk/tree-ashworth-g-h.pdf

Could someone clarify why these are not fully discussed?

Thanks. On a visit to Turton Towers I was struck by the resemblance between George Harry Ashworth and my father, something with which other members of my family also agreed. I've never been able to establish any connection between his family and mine, but feel that at sometime in the dim and distant our families' lines crossed. BTW I have a website http://sites.rootsweb.com/~boltongenealogy/index.html which contains a page about the constables at Turton Tower, and also Sharples Hall. Thank-you for the blog.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09652079310902552364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704095971276575721.post-53692073160798122602018-10-30T15:21:19.339+00:002018-10-30T15:21:19.339+00:00Hi Nick ,

In room 23 where we stayed there were various family photos of Philip and his parents celebrating his 21st birthday. One photo of Horsley hall and another of Philip in his Cheshire Yeomanry uniform. How they ended up in the Hotel I don't know, but its been interesting reading the history of the family. Ollerton/Sharples Hall is not a house I have investigated, but it seems to be an Italianate building of c.1850-60, which could well have been built by John Ashworth. It is not shown on the 1844 Ordnance Survey map. The original Sharples Hall was further south, about where the Cottonworks now stands. Local newspapers, most readily accessed online through the British Newspaper Archive might be informative if you have not already used them. And have you tried Lancashire Archives in Preston, who have much for the whole of the historic county?Nick Kingsleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03588322361791532910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704095971276575721.post-76681208667320846292017-03-20T21:01:52.286+00:002017-03-20T21:01:52.286+00:00Hi Nick

I believe the "Ollerton" is Ollerton Hall which is now named Sharples Hall. We live just over the back and are desperately (unsuccessfully)trying to find information out about our home so if you do find any more information I would be most grateful to hear.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03072435953415800511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704095971276575721.post-23794730970439631232016-04-02T15:25:46.969+01:002016-04-02T15:25:46.969+01:00Many thanks for this; I have updated the article a...Many thanks for this; I have updated the article accordingly.Nick Kingsleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03588322361791532910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704095971276575721.post-34639458598944240882016-04-02T15:00:35.422+01:002016-04-02T15:00:35.422+01:00Hi Nick,
