As a child i lived on Glanusk Estate when my father was a Forrester for the estate.i remember seeing Zara, Tiggy and Harry (who is 11 months younger than myself) on many occasion when they were home from school. I remember attending a xmas party in one of the buildings in the cortyard at Penmyarth house and asking my mum what the party poppers were. Mum said dont touch that( we were about to eat ). We were about to eat the main course and i said what is the string for and pulled it. Of course the party popper exploded sending streams of fine confetti into the air. With that it seemed to tell all the other attending people that the party had began. Everyone seemed to be relieved that they didnt have to stand on ceremony any more and the party really started then after food we all danced and partied the night away. So many people said thank you for starting the party. At the time at such a young age i didnt understand what i had done but later on in life i realised that everyone (All estate workers) were trying to be on their best behaviour infront of the boss. But it took a 6 yr old with rebellious tendencies to show that this was ouf party so let your hair down and b!@#$y well enjoy it. Apert from that and the total freedom of having Glanusk's parkland as a huge playground. The other lasting memory was watching HRH Prince of Wales fly fishing by the tower bridge on the river Usk which flows through the estate. I have other memories but dont wish to bore.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08317231600426134548noreply@blogger.com
